PROFESSIONAL INFO

I’m a student about to graduate with a degree in Media & Communications from Birmingham City University. Currently, I’m the Station Controller for my universities student-run station Scratch Radio, guest writer for the student blog Purple Frog and runner at Parkside Mediahouse. I am an aspiring radio producer, focusing all my efforts throughout my degree to gain the necessary skills that a required for such a role. I have gained skills on programmes such as Myriad Playout and Autotrack, Audition, Stirlitz and Zetta, as well as a knowledge of how to use Photoshop and Premier. I am passionate about working in a team full of like-minded, driven individuals, and thrive in situations with new people. Most recently I have began working as an ambassador for Aspire4U, which has implemented these assets. 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Virgin Radio – July 2016 till December 2016

 

  • I completed a week’s placement at Virgin Radio in July 2016, and I was welcomed back on a fortnightly basis from September 2016 till December 2016

  • I learnt how to use Zetta and Stirlitz during this time, to a level where I was trusted to use them alone

  • First experience being in a professional radio workplace, reinforced my passion to work in radio

  • Assisting producers with show content, uploading music for specialist shows and assisting with pre-records

 

Parkside Mediahouse – April 2016 to present

 

  • Assisting clients with their visits with whatever needs they require, from technical operating to maintaining refreshments

  • Worked with clients such as Marverine Cole, Scout 7, Media Mentors and Capital Xtra’s Music Potential

  • Allowed me to work with a wide range of people and various backgrounds

 

Purple Frog Student Blog – December 2016 to present

 

  • I currently write on a guest basis for Birmingham-based property company Purple Frog, planning, drafting and writing articles, based on an idea from my Editor

  • Collecting images, compiling playlists and researching

  • Working to a set deadline

 

Scratch Radio – October 2014 to May 2017

 

  • Began in the role of Deputy Head of Music in October 2014, promoted to Head of Music in April 2015 and again to Station Controller in April 2016.

  • Hosted The New Music Show, and produced New Music Monday’s

 

  • ​Gradually worked with larger groups of people, managing at first the Music Team and eventually the station

  • Established the Music Team, New Music Monday’s, Music Review Show, Track of the Week, Study Sessions & Pre Party playlists and built connections with BCU’s DJ Society and university magazine The Scratch
